SCSRT President’s Message

Spring is here and is a great time for renewal and recommitment to family,
friends and our profession.  Unfortunately, due to some misunderstandings we did
not host our normal meetings during the first part of the year.  However, we are
looking forward to a great meeting in September – stay tuned for information
about the meeting.  As we shore up the date and topics we will let you know here
on myscsrt.org

In order for us to continue the great work of the Southern California Society
of Radiation Therapists we need volunteers.  We need individuals interested in
board positions and we need departments to host the meetings.  Please let us
know if you are interested.

The benefit of having an active and vibrant SCSRT is the ability to network
and connect with like-minded professionals and friends you may not have seen in
a long while.  Additionally, it is a means of learning what is new in our fast
changing profession and getting CE units at the same time.  Together we can be a
strong professional organization that can meet the educational needs of our
community.

Not too long ago I went to the physics midwinter meeting.  I was amazed by a
neurologist who talked about treating severe depression, Parkinson’s Disease,
Atrial fibrillation, and hypertension to name a few.  Studies are underway
currently into this new usage of radiation.  Who knows what the future will
hold.  If anyone ever said this was a boring profession, they were very
wrong.

So come along with us as we renew our commitment to our profession and our
professional organization.  Volunteer yourself or your department.  Let’s make
the SCSRT the best organization we can.  We all work hard and deserve this
wonderful opportunity.
